What is minimum wage? Minimum wage is the lowest rate an employer can pay an employee. Ontario's general minimum wage increased 75 cents on March 31, 2008 to $8.75. Increases will continue to rise to: $9.50 as of March 31, 2009 and $10.25 as of March 31, 2010. Source: Ontario Ministry of Labour
