BRAMPTON SMALL BUSINESS ENTERPRISE CENTRE CELEBRATES SMALL BUSINESS MONTH IN OCTOBER

Salute to Small Business

October is Small Business Month throughout Ontario. Events will be held across the province to publicly acknowledge the outstanding contributions of small business to Ontario’s economic well-being. 75% of businesses in Canada employ fewer than 5 people. In Brampton, that number leaps to 95%, mirroring the rest of the province.

The City of Brampton contributes directly to small business development and success through the work of the Small Business Enterprise Centre. Almost all services are free and include:

  • Guidance on licences, permits, registration, regulations, and new business requirements
  • Assistance developing and strategizing your business idea
  • Consultations with a qualified business consultant
  • Business plan reviews
  • On-site business registration (not for incorporations)
  • Referral program – accountants, lawyers, franchise expert, professional organizer & more
  • Computer and Internet access
  • Reference library for access to trade directories and business publications
  • Workshops and seminars
  • Networking and professional development opportunities
  • Mentoring

In times of start-up, challenge, transition or growth, the Enterprise Centre offers a wealth of free information, guidance and assistance via seminars, mentoring and special events.

The Brampton Small Business Enterprise Centre has so many ways of celebrating Small Business Month that events have been stretched out over the entire autumn season. A wide range of practical seminars will be offered. People exploring small business ownership shouldn’t miss the monthly Introduction to Entrepreneurship and How to Write a Business Plan. Those in planning or early-growth stages should attend Start Up and Maximize your Marketing. All are offered at small business prices ranging from free to just $25.

Small Business Month culminates on October 27th at “Energize! Fuel for the Entrepreneurial Mind” which includes networking, round table experts, and an inspirational keynote address by local entrepreneur Paul Meisner of Tonus Business Growth Solutions. This free event, aimed at established small businesses, is the small business event in Brampton each year.

The Small Business Enterprise Centre at 33 Queen St. W. in downtown Brampton provides entrepreneurs with a place to get started on realizing their dreams. Visit the Enterprise Centre's website at www.brampton-business.com for the full calendar of event and details on registering for events.
